Austria's Presidency

From the 1st of January 2006, Austria has assumed the role of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This should be an important period for the European Presidency as, for instance, the Financial Perspective for 2007-2013 adopted by the 25 Heads of State and Government in December 2005, must now also gain the consent of the European Parliament and the Commission.

Austria adopted the logo created by AMO. The 'Barcode' was the product of a brainstorm about Europe's visual communication organized by the European Comission, and was touted as a 'new European flag' [on the offical website Rem Koolhaas is only mentioned as a Dutch designer]. Since the time of its conception the barcode had not yet served an official use.
